My Expedition Experience by PJ Perlitz

Even though hiking and the out doors isn't my favorite, there were many things I enjoyed on the expedition. First, I really liked going to Red Rocks in Vegas and doing rock climbing. I was hesitant to try it but when I did I made it all the way to the top. Next, we traveled to The Grand Canyon in Arizona. The hiking was not my favorite but I loved seeing the sights. We hiked from The South Rim to Phantom Ranch it was quite a work out. We hiked 18 miles total and in the end it was a great accomplishment. We stayed in there for four days and the group had a lot of great moments. After that, we stayed at a camp site that had a playground. The whole group enjoyed playing on the roundy round. After camping at that site we went to The Petrified Forest. We saw tons of petrified wood and even got to talk to a ranger. The ranger taught us about how the wood became petrified and about what The Petrified Forest used to be. We learned a lot and even wrote a few science journals. Last, after The Petrified Forest we went to Newspaper Rock. We saw petroglyphs written by the Anasazis, There were so many cool writings. Then we camped out a few more nights and went back to North Carolina. Everyone in the group had a lot of fun and we really learned a lot.
